Chaplaincy

for older people

Please let me introduce you to Anna Chaplaincy for older people – a scheme comprised of churches of all denominations nationwide which began in 2014 and which is now getting established on Romney Marsh.

Anna Chaplains are commissioned by the churches to offer spiritual care and support to older people and their families, including people with dementia. Anna Chaplains often work with Anna Friends who volunteer alongside them.

Anna Chaplains help older people with their spiritual needs so that Christian worship and individual support can be provided as requested. This enables a resident to be able to have an opportunity for those deeper conversations about what matters to them, for example exploring what brings purpose, connection, hope and peace to their lives. It is a ministry for those who have a strong faith, little faith or no faith at all, but are happy to be supported sympathetically in a spiritual way when they wish to be.

I have been trained in this role of Anna Chaplain and the clergy are always at hand to offer advice and support for myself and my team.

With thanks,

Mrs Helen Sanderson
